Homework

Homework is an important aspect of your child’s education. The purpose of homework is to develop the ability to learn independently whilst completing, consolidating or extending work done at school and to pursue research and enquiry. Tasks set might include reading, written work, learning, research and revision.

The school will set, mark and monitor class work and homework, and we encourage parents to support their child in completing homework on time and to a good standard and to provide other opportunities for home learning wherever possible.

  • Students should record all homework set in their planners, and parents should monitor this and sign the planner each week.

  • We recommend that students plan their homework carefully so that they complete tasks in good time.

  • Homework is best completed in a calm and quiet working environment with no distractions.

  • Advice about how long students are expected to spend on homework across Key Stages 3 and 4 can be found in the student planner on page 11.

  • Information about the frequency of homework can also be found on page 11 of the student planner.

Key Stage 3 Project Homework
